Weekly Run Log Jan. 08-14, 2012

I lost track of my runs for the week. When I tallied up my numbers I only had one run, thus making it easy to add. At least I got out.

01/14/2012: First Winter Wild race of the year at Whaleback ski area. A short race of 1.2 miles round trip coupled with 650' of climb led to a quick time. I placed 15th overall out of 128 who attended. This race was slightly strange because everyone was running it. They made a last minute decision to have the up track and down track on the same trail as opposed to the normal loop that they strive for. This was due to the mountain only having one trail open from top to bottom. Because of the two-way traffic they didn't want the skiers and runners mixing. It would have been too "dangerous." As always the race was fun but I ended up pushing it too hard and was coughing for about an hour afterward. I ended up limping my way in because of the cramp in my side. It was not a pretty race for me. For the next race I will try to keep my form better and go out a bit slower (I led the pack up the first steep). 14:33, 1.2 miles, 650' vert.

Weekly Run Log - January 01-07, 2012

01/01/2012: Smoked my best time for Dublin Trail up Monadnock because of a large amount of ice flowing down the trail. Put the Microspikes on and flew up the NEI 2- flow. 1:18, 4.6  miles, 1,700' vert.

01/07/2011: Craig Road to its jct with Reed Carr Road in my new Montrail Sabinos. Wondering if NH's frozen, uneven ground is adding stress to my still-weak ankles. Its like running on roughed up cement. Thinking it might be time to hit the dirt roads until the snow flies. 0:28, 3.2 miles, 100' vert.

Weekly Summary: 7.8 miles, 1,800' vert.

A Thought from the Trail...

... in the form of a haiku:

In goes food, water
Out comes solid, liquid, gas
My prism body
